Everything you need to make traditional orange rolls

Ingredients

  • 250 ml. orange juice (1 glass)
  • 230 ml. sunflower oil (a little less than a glass)
  • 270 ml. sugar (a little more than one glass)
  • 3 gasifying color envelopes for pastries and 3 white envelopes
  • Nearly 1k flour
  • Half a glass of sugar mixed with cinnamon powder, which will serve to spread the rolls

Preparation

For starters, we’ll grab a large bowl and mix the flour, baking soda saffo, sugar, oil and orange juice. With your hands we will remove the mixture. We’ll work this dough until it’s in place. We should have a homogeneous mass. On a plate we will put the sugar mixed with the cinnamon that will serve to spread the rolls before putting them in the oven

Then we will take a part of the paste and with our hands we will give it cylindrical shape more or less long 10 cm. approximately close it so that it is shaped likea roll, then we will even it with the cinnamon mixture with sugar and put it in the baking tray to which we will have put baking paper or we will have previously greased it with oil.

We will do this process piece by piece, surely we will need two baking trays for the quantities proposed in the recipe. As we make the rolls we turn on the oven at 200 degrees about 10 minutes. When we have them all, we put them in the oven at a temperature of 170 degrees for about 25 minutes and when they are golden we will take them out. And you’re ready! Now all we have to do is wait for them to cool down so we can eat them.

To conserve them, we can store them in an airtight glass jar. This way they will last for quite a few days without losing their taste or texture.

You have to try them, a sweet touch for breakfast, snacks or desserts. Here in Valencia, it is very typical to eat them in dessert with a mistela or snack next to the coffee. You’ll love them!
