How to mature avocados?

In this post, we’re going to explain what we can do to mature avocados

Sometimes we buy the avocados and it turns out that they are not ripe yet, they are intense green and when we touch them we notice that they are hard.

To accelerate the maturation of avocados we have several alternatives:

1.- We can put them in a bag of kraft or strata paper or we can even wrap them in newspaper and in a few days they will mature.

2.- If we need an even faster maturation, we can wrap them in that same paper next to apples, bananas or tomatoes. These fruits and vegetables emit ethylene, and this substance causes the avocado to mature more quickly.

They should be checked because we will surely be interested in them maturing one after each other, so we can have 2 or 3 in the fridge to keep green, others on a plate at room temperature and others wrapped in paper with other fruits as described above.

3.- If we wanted them to mature very quickly (in about 10 minutes),we have another procedure that consists of pricking with a needle or with a similar object, that is fine, making a few small surface cuts or scrapes on the skin of the avocado. Next,we will wrap the avocado in aluminum foil and put it in the oven at 150º for 10 minutes..
Once it cools down we can use it. The exposure time in the oven can vary depending on how hard the avocado is. If it’s too hard, ten minutes is fine, and if it’s just a little rough, five minutes will do.

We hope these simple tips will help you to take the delicious avocados in optical conditions of maturity and quality.
