Orange biscuit is a traditional dish that is inscribed within the Mediterranean area although it has become widespread throughout the peninsula. Influenced on the one hand by the garden and on the other side by the sea we present the orange cake.
This recipe is based on typical produce from the garden, such as orange and other basic ingredients found in the kitchen of any home.
Ingredients
- 100g sunflower or butter oil (a little more to grease the pan)
- 3 eggs
- 250 g pastry flour (you can add a little more to sprinkle the pan)
- 250g sugar (and a little more to sprinkle over the cake, or use icing sugar when the cake is finished)
- 1 orange of juice peeled and cut into pieces, rescuing some pieces of the bark (the bark gives a very light bitter taste to the cake, so that it can be diminished or dispensed if the diners do not like the touch of bitter taste)
- 1 natural yoghurt or 130g liquid cream
- 1 15g envelope yeast
- 1 pinch of salt
Preparation
- Preheat oven to 180o.
- Grease the pan with oil or butter, sprinkled with a little flour on top. Book.
- Mix the following ingredients with a blender, the sugar, eggs and orange into pieces along with the crust. This one has to be completely shredded.
- Add the sunflower oil, yogurt and mix with the blender for a few seconds.
- Stir in the flour, yeast and pinch of salt, mix everything for half a minute.
- Once the ingredients are mixed, pour everything into the pan and sprinkle the surface with the sugar or if you prefer to sprinkle with the icing sugar then, when we remove the cake from the oven.
- Bake for about 40 minutes at about 180o
Once out of the oven, we will allow to cool and serve when it is completely cold.
Delicious sponge cake, very easy to prepare and used to accompany in desserts or snacks. It is a great snack if we mix it with chocolate, or with horchata,another traditional product of the Valencian garden,which we can not fail to mention.
